I'm wondering if there is a easy way of loading the new release from sprint onto my s3 which I have rooted and running the gummy 4.4.2 April 16 release version. I was wondering if I can download the new sprint version or if I have to go back to the stock 4.3 and then do a ota update. Sorry still new and figuring out the while rooting and updating ROM part. Thanks for your help.

If you're rooted, the OTA will fail. You can either unroot and go back to stock, then take the OTA, or flash the 4.4 tar file through Odin:

[FULL RESTORE][TAR] Stock ND8 Odin FLASHABLE [4.4.2] - xda-developers

I can Odin myself directly back to stock from a rooted state?!?! If so, thats great!! Here I was thinking I had to get myself back to stock before I could Odin myself back to stock 4.4. I'm just contemplating whether allowing Knox to finally be in my bootloader is in my best interest. I'm not really looking to root this device any longer.....but.....you just never know....ya know....lol!!

Yes you can.
I'd suggest you continue without the Knox limitations until you decide to get rid of the phone - that way you still have options.
