Sprint Galaxy S4: Phone favorites

Why does every number you text or call save into favorites? Is there a way to just save a few numbers? Thanks for your help

You can save your own favorites and it puts those at the top, and then under that it lists the contacts that you use most often.

I thought it was doing that but after receiving a few calls it moves your favorites down the list. Even when I get texts the number shows up in the list. The software needs to be updated to fix this.
