It looks to be going that way. Although I dont know what that means for us current 4G users. Wonder if our 4G phones will work with the LTE somehow...Guess we shall see!

That is my guess as well. But does it mean for any NEW 4G cities will the older WiMax phones no longer work is what I want to know. It would be silly for them to run both if they are trying to save money. Just a thought.

one of a couple options really. since they can't just shut off wimax without getting their heads BLOWN OFF by angry customers who bought wimax phones, they would either have to offer exchanges for lte capable phones or keep the wimax on for a while.
where they run into a problem is in areas (like mine) where we dont yet have 4g and, if they never turn it on but do turn on lte...that is going to be an issue if they dont offer an exchange since all of these customers will have bought these phones thinking "i may not have 4g now...but ill have it soon!" and then, they get the news that it isnt coming and that their phones will never get use out of one of the features they "bought it for" and the sales people "promised" them.
i only make these points because i'm a sprint sales rep and i know for a fact that my local customer base will come in, screaming and yelling, that their phones arent getting the technology they were promised and my co-workers and i (along with the sales reps in similar areas) are going to have to deal with a lot of angry people

I would like to see exchange credits for persons who adopted early with WiMax while they turn around switch it up on us. I think it would be cheaper in the long run at least than to keep WiMax equipment going and maintained.

It's funny how LTE is backwards compatible with like everything BUT WiMax.

They will start making the new cities LTE and do a slow change over of the cities which are already 4g.

Makes you wonder why in the hell didn't they do this from the start instead of trying to go with a failing company. Now Sprint will have to deal with pissed off customers who bought WiMAX phones expecting 4G but never getting it.
