Sprint GS3 custom roms

Hi,

I hope to flash this rom this weekend. Had to take care of an urgent computer issue I was having. : (

I did think of a couple more questions to ask before I do this - Does it matter what recovery I use? Don't think that was mentioned but maybe I missed it. I have TWRP. Also, if my phone is flashed to Boost, do I do a factory reset besides wiping cache and delvik? I see that is the preferred way to do it but I'm wondering if it could wipe out being flashed to Boost.

UPDATE: Just reread the description of Wicked Sensation and I see it does mention best to use TWRP so I am set there. Do I flash the Kernal file after I do the rom?

Thanks.

No kernel flash needed, one is included in the ROM. I'll try to check on the other question.

Hi,
I was doing a little checking around for the answer to the question of will I lose flash to boost if I install custom rom and came across this thread on Android Forums:

http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/460035-evo-4g-boost-mobile-guide-evo-3d-2.html

A big portion of the thread has to do with rooting but there are several mentions that folks installed custom roms and did not lose flash to boost. Do you think since I have the S3 and this is about an Evo that could make a difference? I realize a problem can crop up at any time for any user (that's the chance you take).

Its worth a shot. Just make sure you have a nandroid back up of everything before you start. The nandroid is done in recovery.

I really don't think flashing a ROM will change the settings that determine the carrier connections, but I can't be 100% sure. I also think what you linked to should apply to any phone, not just the S3, but once again I've never changed carriers, so I can't speak from experience.

Did the flash today to Wicked Sensation. First off - very cool indeed!!! Am still installing my apps and then will take a further tour. Now for the good news - I still have 3g and mms is working!! I had seen a workaround if mms was not working to use Go SMS Pro with a some configuration. I actually use that app anyway so I tested the stock one and it works fine. One thing that didn't update though was the modem to MD4. If I understood correctly, the modem was supposed to be included in the rom or did I miss something? And if it was, is that something that happens and what do I do now? I did check the download page for Wicked Sensation but I didn't see a separate file. I also googled it and I gotta be honest, was a bit out of my league in trying to determine which was the actual file. Can someone point me in the right direction? I also saw a post about modem helper - are you familiar with that? Would that help me install MD4? Now for the bad news - lost root. : (( Thankfully most of my apps were installed from play so was able to reinstall those but will need titanium to restore some of my settings. Will have to learn how to root. I'll head over to xda - I'm sure they have a guide.

Thank you guys so much for all your help. Couldn't have done it without you! : )

The modem is seperate from the ROM. I had told ya the kernal was included in the ROM(even though they are also seperate from the ROM). No biggie there though. Just find the guide on updating to MD4. The really odd part is that you lost root. I am at a loss as to why. There are rooting guides here as well as XDA and it is an easy process.

I finally got the MD4 modem file. Sorry for being a newbie pain!

Am really enjoying checking out all the features. Will take me a while! : )

Thanks again!
