Sprint Hero Screen protector/body skin

Now that I know I've gotten a good one I'm going to have mine ghost armored. I'm hoping it doesn't diminish the touch screen any.

I just bought the pack of $7.99 universal ones at BB and cut it to fit and it looks and works great. It was the first thing i did :)

I picked up a few things from handhelditems.com. I found a coupon code that took 30% off my order. The code is "30htcoff". They have the gel cases and screen protectors.

Kinda sad that Best Buy sells a invisible shield for the Euro Hero and not the Sprint version.

Happen to be lucky enough to have a BB phone tech at our local store who happens to be a true phone geek. The correct invisible shields for the Sprint Hero should be in late this week. At my store at least, there is a sign up to reserve one and get notified when they arrive.

If it's a glass screen then a screen protector really isn't needed. But I haven't found anything saying that the screen is glass. If anyone else knows that would be awesome.

Anyone buy one?

I picked up a Zagg screen protector and love it. I've always had great luck with the Zagg screen protectors. The one I bought isn't for the Hero specifically its for the other (maybe it is called a Hero) HTC device that had the angled bottom bit it fits the screen very good. Think its well worth the investment considering you will be using the screen a lot.

The screen is Teflon coated. The rep at Best Buy took a scissor and tried to scratch the screen, nothing.

I haven't heard of the screen being teflon coated but that sounds like great news. Would love to see a video of someone doing this, but, I Don't want to test it on my Hero...

It's the case that is teflon coated (at least on european Heros - not sure on the Sprint version) not the screen.

The screen has an oleophobic (anti-smudge) coating, but is glass so should be reasonably scratch resistant. I wouldn't take scissors to it, but I do carry it in a pocket with keys and after two months there are no marks on it at all.

Zagg has the worst stuff ever. It might be nice if you use it to protect the body of your device, but I would never put a Zagg product on any of my touchscreen devices again. It ruins visibility and is annoyingly sticky. Never again.

99.9% correct

The European Hero is only Teflon Coated if its the white version to keep dirt off. Dirt isn't visible on the black version so its pointless to Teflon coat.

And yes .... the screen on the Sprint is Oleophobic coated glass (does this mean my screen has a fear of oleo's??)

Just for clarification purposes, oleophobic doesn't make the glass any stronger but rather makes it harder for dirt/oil to stick to but even with that said .... a screen protector is kind of pointless on these devices because if your doing something that's crazy enough to scratch a glass screen its going to scratch despite any kind of plastic screen protector.

When i had my Zagg on my pre, it turned the decent looking pre into looking about 4 years old, not to mention that you couldnt use the touchscreen well because your fingers didnt slide good on the sticky material. I definetly dont reccomend it to anyone for anything.

I've had great luck with the Zagg products and haven't run into any issues with the visibility or usability of the touchscreen/device. I know there are others out there (lower priced) but my experience has been positive with the Zagg screen protectors.

so true i had a pre for 2.5 months and the same thing happened to me. i just got my hero today and i was wondering about adding a screen protector but i will just find a body case for it instead.

I have used Zagg on all my phones and have never had any issues. Currently have my Hero all Zagged up and there's been no issue with touch sensitivity.

You can currently get free shipping on Zagg if you want to install yourself. Zagg Invisible Shield Free Shipping |

I don't know about other BB stores, but I bought a Zagg shield from BB on Friday and it shows the Euro Hero on the outside but the shield is cut for the Sprint version. I like the protection it offers but I do miss the soft touch feel of the back.
