Sprint hotspot problem?

So I'm having to stay in an extended stay type place for 2 weeks between when my lease was up and when classes end. I just got moved in and set my computer up. There's free wifi here that "works", but intermittently and it's slow... I look on my phone and what do I see though, 4G! Full bars! Unfortunately it doesn't last long, but the 3G signal and speeds are still excellent right here, so I wanted to just use my phone as a wireless hotspot and connect my computer to that.

I go to sprint hotspot, set up a password, set it to WPA2, and turn it on. My computer finds it immediately, I connect, anndddd...no internet access. My computer just says that for some reason the device or router isn't responding. My phone's data is working fine, and my computer works fine on other wireless networks, but it can't seem to use my phone's.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Any help would be great!

Well, I gave it a try. Set it up and tried to connect and it just said "sorry, cannot connect to this network"

Well this is unfortunate..

Ah, well, I did what seems to fix all problems, and rebooted the phone. Now it's working just fine (I used sprint hotspot first, but is there any benefit to using Foxfi instead?)

I don't know if there's any advantage to using one or the other. I guess I'd be worried Sprint could more easily detect when you're tethering using "their" app. There's an add-on for FoxFi in the play store that adds a proxy server that supposedly hides tether usage. YMMV.
