Sprint HTC One - Native browser question

I can't play videos in the native browser anymore.
I am trying to play some videos on the CNET page and all I get is that thing going round and round when I click play.
When I use Chrome the video plays with no problem.

Check under Settings/Advanced and make sure Java and other important things are checked.

There is also a Restore to Default settings at the bottom.

Checked and rechecked, restored, cleared the cache, disabled and enabled, cleared data, restarted the phone, I have the same problem.
When I'm on WI-FI, I click to play the video, and, very quickly the video starts and stops.
It's not life and death but occasionally I want to see a video from a website, and I happen to like the native browser so...
