Let's agree that multiple sources said different things. The today date was reported by Android Central and Android Police. Point is it'll be soon.

Probably right given that it's the weekend now, but HTCs site seems to be waaaaay behind. They haven't been updating it as quickly as they've worked.

I've been getting those nag messages almost every time I pick up the phone, but I'm holding it up for the time being. Do I really want to lose nearly a gigabyte of RAM? Or do they mean just on the internal SD card? That would be different, of course.

ETA: And will I lose root?

Wait, you're on Sprint and getting the Lollipop OTA prompt?
To answer your question, yes you'll lose root by doing any official OTA. And they mean internal storage, not RAM.
