Sprint LTE speeds Athens Georgia wow!

I just saw this on the s4gru Site.
Thanks to a member Daniel Holt and his Galaxy Nexus. 20-30 download. 9-10MBs upload. I know the network is not contested. But wow!

Note: LTE with a weak signal still produced pretty good speeds on lte. Check page one of that thread.

Athens, GA LTE - Sprint 4G Rollout Updates

WHAT?! Alright I need to rant.

I live in Athens, GA, and have for the last 4 years. I got the Epic 4G when sprint first launched their 4G Wimax network, and I figured that since Atlanta (just a hop skip and a jump away...minus traffic) was one of the original cities to receive not just 4G, but entire city-wide clearwire wiimax coverage, then "surely" Athens would be high on the list of cities to get coverage next.

Wrong. Two years later and we still don't get proper 4G in Athens from sprint (I haven't been in town for about 4 months so maybe things have changed, never know). To add insult to injury, when Verizon launched their LTE network, Athens was one of the original group of cities to receive coverage!!! It was like Verizon was laughing at me for sticking with sprint.

NOW, now that I'm moving away from Athens the summer that I'm upgrading to a (probably) LTE sprint phone, I'm actually moving away from a place where Sprint LTE waves are actually being found?!

Ridiculous.

The difference between then and now is that Sprint is actually handling the deployment of LTE and installing them on every tower with the Network Vision upgrades. With Wimax is was Clear that was handling the deployment for the most part.

I live in Statham, Ga which is about 15 miles and minutes from Athens.
I currently am unable to get an LTE signal at home on my Galaxy Nexus but I am not worried. Once it gets turned on, I should have no problems.
Next time I am in Athens proper, I will test again.
Per all the maps I have seen, there is a tower practically in my back yard so I am good.

Looking forward to the LTE in the ATL.
