Sprint M8: Orientation sensor(s) went haywire

I just got this phone last Monday and everything is great, but on Saturday, the gyroscope, GPS, and accelerometers all went crazy. The screen orientation kept flipping on its own when the phone was stationary. Google Maps kept telling me that I had shaken the phone which activates a feedback feature.

I checked the sensors with Z-Test and they were all just flying around as if the phone was in a blender.

But Sunday, it seems to have corrected itself and has been fine since. Has anyone heard of this? I can still just do an exchange for a new one as I'm in the 14-day window. I was at home at the time, so I don't think it was exposed to any weird external signals.

I am not on Sprint, but this is the first I have heard of it. If it were me, I would at least call them so that you are on record for the issue.
