Hey Sprint Nexus 5 users. How did you guys setup your phone? i just got it today and i heard there were problems setting it up. any help would be awesome. thanks!

There was a Sprint back end issue which has been resolved. They were having issues activating the 32gb ver. Make sure who ever helps you knows what they are doing. Otherwise it'll be an infuriating process

How are the nexus 5 OS updates handled this time around? I know with my galaxy nexus we had to wait forever to get updates vs the gsm model. Are all OS updates now handled through google direct? I ask because I wasnt sure how it would work if you activate it on Sprint, then want to leave and go to AT&T. I didn't know if you activate it on Sprint, that it would then have to follow Sprints guidelines on the OS updates? Thanks

Everything will be coming from Google. There is now just one model in the US for all carriers. The Galaxy Nexus CDMA device was basically a seperate device developed just for Verizon/Sprint and thus did not receive the same support from Google. This is a true Nexus and will be treated by Google as such.

so all i need to do is go to a sprint store, pick up a lte sim for my phone, and i can activate it via sprint.com?

Yep. Or they can do it there for you. No muss no fuss. When I activated mine the issue was it had to update, so it updated straight from Google, it's about time this happened

awesome thanks! and the reason i said i'd do it on sprint.com is because last time i had a sprint store try to activate my phone they dropped it...no thanks.

Nope. None of the new TriBand phones will be able to do this.

It should be able to do voice and LTE simultaneously. 3g works on the CDMA network and wouldn't be able to handle voice and data at the same time. I don't yet have my nexus but I have spent a fair amount of time working with these technologies.

Yes I know, and Thx.
I wonder how come my current S3 can do 3G and voice at the same time.... If its Hardware, then why phones two years newer can't?

Just activated my 32GB. My SIM card arrived in the mail, i popped it in and proceeded to log into my account on sprint.com. I went to activate a new phone, typed in the IMEI number and it errored out. I then proceeded to use a Chat session with someone from Sprint and they activated my phone very quickly. The one hang-up I had is that I had to drop the last number from the IMEI number. To see what I'm talking about, on your phone, go to settings>about phone>phone identity and look at your MEID number. That's the number they need to get it going. Then they will also ask you for the ICCID (sim card) and you'll be good to go on Sprint's side. One restart of the phone will activate mobile data and voice calling. Very quick and relatively painless.

On a side note, Sprint DID say I can activate TEP on the phone which I agreed to. (I have heard on this forum that TEP is not offered on the 32GB model). However TEP has not showed up as active on my account as of yet.

I just ordered a 32gb white Nexus 5 from wirefly for $119! I don't know how many times I asked the rep if he was sure it was the 32gb model and not the 16gb for that price. He replied every time, yes. Then went on to prompt me to the online site, under the phone's 'Quick look features and specifications' and sure enough, it's 32gb....for $119! :-)

I can't seem to find a SIM card for my Nexus 5. The Sprint stores don't have them and what I ordered through International chat is on backorder. Where are you guys finding your SIM cards at?

Where did you order the SIM card from?
