How are the nexus 5 OS updates handled this time around? I know with my galaxy nexus we had to wait forever to get updates vs the gsm model. Are all OS updates now handled through google direct? I ask because I wasnt sure how it would work if you activate it on Sprint, then want to leave and go to AT&T. I didn't know if you activate it on Sprint, that it would then have to follow Sprints guidelines on the OS updates? Thanks
There was a Sprint back end issue which has been resolved. They were having issues activating the 32gb ver. Make sure who ever helps you knows what they are doing. Otherwise it'll be an infuriating process

Yep. Or they can do it there for you. No muss no fuss. When I activated mine the issue was it had to update, so it updated straight from Google, it's about time this happened

Nope. None of the new TriBand phones will be able to do this.

Just activated my 32GB. My SIM card arrived in the mail, i popped it in and proceeded to log into my account on sprint.com. I went to activate a new phone, typed in the IMEI number and it errored out. I then proceeded to use a Chat session with someone from Sprint and they activated my phone very quickly. The one hang-up I had is that I had to drop the last number from the IMEI number. To see what I'm talking about, on your phone, go to settings>about phone>phone identity and look at your MEID number. That's the number they need to get it going. Then they will also ask you for the ICCID (sim card) and you'll be good to go on Sprint's side. One restart of the phone will activate mobile data and voice calling. Very quick and relatively painless.
On a side note, Sprint DID say I can activate TEP on the phone which I agreed to. (I have heard on this forum that TEP is not offered on the 32GB model). However TEP has not showed up as active on my account as of yet.
I live in San Francisco, and I've called the stores and walked in. I ordered my sim on International Chat.Where do you live? Have you tried calling?
