Sprint Note 3 getting 4.4.4

Noticed swype keyboard is different. Also noticed the menu drop down is slower.

+1 on slower drop-down menu. Also, the calculator colors are different: the orange changed to green on the number display.

My stock email keeps hanging and then shutting down. I think the update broke it...

And I am having huge battery drain, maybe due to the email issues. Major bummer.

I read about this update a few days ago. It still hasn't hit my device yet. FWIW, over on the Sprint forums, there's a report that "4.4.4 breaks email" (https://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/171134), and a post that suggests the flaky WiFi issue that has existed since Day 1 on this device is still not fixed (https://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/171029). While the latter isn't exactly confirmed -- it might be fixed and just not listed in the official bullets which is all the rep posted about changes -- the former apparently is. There are suggestions to remove and re-add the accounts back and reports that that does fix the problem. What I'm not sure of is whether it only affects Samsung's "Email" app, if it affects "Gmail" too, or what.

The Geniuses (Devs) will come up with something. I will sit tight and wait till they iron some of the wrinkles out. Thanks to them.

I use gmail and have been getting no problems at all. ive noticed a HUGE gain in battery maybe thats just my opinion but im always on twitter google play music and texting 24/7

Also noticed that split view you can now put Instagram kik and netflix on it. I wasn't able to do so before but now I can. And in addition to my battery life I got 14 hours with 1 charge. 8 of those hours were from school with no signal and streaming music for 4 of those hours. Emoji in Stock messages are fixed. They send as a normal sms until you reach a certain amount of characters. Before it sent all emoji messages as Mms

My wife and I both have Note 3s. I received the update Tuesday AM and it's been fine. Yesterday, my wife's hadn't received the update, so I checked for one, downloaded it and it seemed OK. I come home from work early today only to be received by scowls. She's mightily peeved because email comes up for about 10 seconds then fails, which is why I'm here desperately searching for a fix.

There has been a lot of issues with mail after this update. .before the update the problem i had with mail was that i would get an email as new a day or so later. .seemed strange

Welp got 4.4.4 yesterday and haven't noticed much difference other than kid mode and my IR blaster doesn't work. Which really sucks for me.

But I did just check the watch on app and that is working and the I r blaster works with that.

The 4.4.4 update just hit my phone tonight, so I can't say much about how it's affecting my device. However, I did notice one thing pretty quickly that I don't like: the GPS toggle in the notification bar is now a Location toggle. :( My problem with it is that when I toggle it off, then back on, it goes to the high accuracy mode despite the fact that I originally had it on power saving mode. I think it should have been created more like the Sound toggle that goes from on -> vibrate -> mute. Having the Location notification toggle cycle through off -> GPS only -> Power saving -> High accuracy (with some modifications to the icon, even if it's just the text) would have been better. The way I normally use my phone, power saver is the default, I put on GPS when required, then I go back to power saver. Before, just tapping the GPS toggle once took care of everything. Now to get GPS on, I can tap the Location toggle twice (off, then on to high accuracy), but to get back to power saver I have to go into the settings; I can't reach power saving location mode from the notification toggle. While this isn't a huge issue, it is a newly added inconvenience and I don't really understand why they thought changing the GPS toggle to a Location toggle was a good idea.

This doesn't help much but just wanted to make sure you knew that you can get directly to the location settings by long pressing the location toggle. I agree they either should have made it cycle through all the options or default to your last setting. It's the same on the TMO and the international Note 3 too.

Yes, I was aware that long-pressing on a notification icon will take you straight to its settings. It's a nice tip for those who didn't know it though, so thanks for the reminder. I rarely needed to use that trick before, but with the GPS toggle being replaced by the Location one, I'll probably have to use it more often now for switching GPS settings. While I definitely would have preferred a cycling toggle button for Location, similar to Sound, if the toggle "on" used your last selected setting, that would have been a little better. It's still not great in my case, because I basically want to go between high accuracy and power saving, but unfortunately we're stuck with the choices they made whether we agree with them or not. (But I do feel like if they thought about this more, they would have either kept the GPS toggle switch or made the Location switch cycle.)
