We all knew the Echo would be hard on batteries. Sprint and Kyocera even give us that little power-pack-spare battery battery dealie.

But i had to look because I wasn't getting a full days use from it using both batteries. o_O

Seems like sometimes, Sprint Radio will lock the phone awake. If you use Sprint Radio, download Spare Parts from the market so you can see if it's wake-locking your phone.

After seeing it and stopping the use of Sprint Radio, I get a full healthy day of pretty hard use from the batteries :)

One battery, or both?

Both. I'm testing how long i can go with just one battery today. Put one in at 12:30, at 38% right now.

But to be fair, i use the hell out of the phone. i check all my mail and messages from it, even when sitting at a PC. Old Blackberry habits i guess.

I'll check it out. Yesterday I went 14-15 hours with one battery. The last 10% lasted quite a while.

I always set CDMA phones so that the wifi never sleeps. Best battery saver there is.

In this case, I mean use spare parts to check what's using your battery, and why. There are options to see what's using things like CPU time, sensors, etc. See if Sprint Radio wake locks your phone. Same idea as the way the messaging app used to keep the Hero wake locked.

I am testing out with spare parts also, wild day with the phone running through 2 batteries in an 9 hour period.

Also seeing the phone act really stupid and disable the BT for no reason? Anyone else see this as of yet? I can go in and reconnect it with no problem but it just disables itself over a matter of time if not in use (possibly due to low battery...still checking on this one too).

So testing the device out today and I actually got 9 and a half hours out of it, but I had GPS turned off, emails are set to receive every 30 minutes, screen turns off in 30 sec with out use, and a few other items. Much better performance but I am not going to be able to leave email set to 30 minutes as being in IT I need to receive emails as they arrive.

Something else I did not really pay much attention to is there is NO pinch to zoom, not sure if anyone else sees this as a problem but I do.

I believe I have read that there is no pinch to zoom in the browser that comes with the Echo. However, if you download Opera Mobile (or possible any other 3rd party browser) pinch to zoom works just fine. I don't mind losing the 'multi-tasking' functionality of the provided browser, it's the extra screen real estate I like.

I know that the Dolphin browser does not have this feature enabled on the ECHO. Currently running the latest Dolphin HD and it does not work. The default google browser does not work either with pinch to zoom. What you get is the zoom in and zoom out buttons.

Will test Opera next to see what I get....
