If I back-up my data to Cloud, who am I giving permission to do what with my data? Sprint? Samsung? Google? Android? Any Government agencies (CIA,KGB,...)? How secure is Cloud? What are the main benefits and liabilities of using Cloud?

I back my data up to Google and Verizon but I'm limited with the information I put. But of course the government will always have access don't be fooled by the media and the debate.

Verizon Galaxy S5 😎

What service are you using for backups?

I back my data up to Google-it's a good safeguard in case your phone is lost or destroyed, or you decide to reset your phone.

I think there is a Samsung backup service, but I don't use it.

If you are backing up to the cloud, the provide has access to it in some fashion. You'll need to accept that. Only a local backup won't have strange people having access to your data, and even then, it's less secure on your home PC than in the cloud in many ways.
