Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - Google forcing itself as browser homepage

every time I open the default browser on my note 3 it takes me to the google homepage. I set my default home page to something else but google overrides it and forces me to go to their page instead. is there some setting to stop this from happening? I already downloaded Dolphin browser because google forcing itself on me ticked me off. whats the point of having a setting where you can set your favorite website as you browser home page if google is going to override it?
