Sprint says airplane mode problem is not a known issue.

My nephew is having this issue on his new moment - he is returning it this week for an Evo. He picked up a moment last week, was horrible with airplane mode so he exchanged it for another one, it is much better but still does it randomly so he is going to go for the Evo.
 
So sick of this phone. It's so frustrating... I feel like it might be able to work right, but the lag and fact I can't ever make calls or do anything ever at all... sort of annoying.
 
I agree with you. I think this is the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. From losing a connection to airplane mode I can't use my phone more then I can. I call sprint and all they want to do is give me abnother one. I am on my 4th one. I guess eventuall I will get one that works correct. At first I thought it was the firewall at work but then it happened4 hours AFTER I had 2.1 installed and I was at home. Serious? I thought 2.1 was supposed to fix this issue. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet.
 
I work for Sprint so I'll just throw out there, especially since I'm not on a call with you guys, that Airplane Mode is still a known issue even with having 2.1. I'd have to check and see what it says about fixing it. If I had to guess, I'd say they're going to do a MR for it.

I'll try to remember to check tomorrow at work and tell you guys what it mentions as a resolution.
 
@salacon, what are our options as customers? When I talk to someone st sprint I feel like I get the runaround. I threaten to walk away and no one seems to care. I feel like sprint has me by the you know what and is unwilling to do do anything about it. They offer me "any phone you want" but when I ask about the evo or palm pre I hear "oh sorry I can't exchange for those phones". I guess they really don't mean any phone then. I am actually now trying to get the ceo's email and see what I can get from him.

The last time I called I was told that the only thing I could do was to get a refurbished Moment, the rep told me it was better then the original! She could not answer my question if the issue would be fixed or if 2.1 would be on the phone. IMO, Sprint and Samsung won't do a thing. The lack of a reply from this Sprint employee kind of makes my point.
 
All righty, I definitely took longer than planned to reply but I checked into it.

The main solution listed was to be sure you have the latest update, which it listed mainly as being acquired through a repair store. I believe it was CL14 (I'd have to double check to see if that's build number or what) that the phone should say.

Unfortunately, aside from the above, it mainly just talks about how they're working on resolving the issue in the future.

I wish I could take a picture of the screen while at work so that it's out there to just see, but the environment I'm in really never allows for me to whip out my phone and not get caught. I'm going to check it once more and see if I can do better at quoting precisely what is said. Maybe I'll write it down if I get the chance, then bring it into a post on here.

I've missed so many calls with this piece of junk..... :(
Also everyone tells me the sound quality sucks compared to the Instinct it replaced.
 
Well Sprint told me today that it is a Samsung issue. Unfortantly, the Samsung Help Line is staffed by people who barely speak English. So it's not looking good.
I think I'm going to stick with it, but save money for an new phone that can run Android 3.0.

I am really annoyed with this phone. I have missed a ton of business related calls because of Airplane mode.
This is my first "smart phone".
I have ALL of the issues that are attributed to the Moment: airplane mode, power drains, no signal, and random shut-downs.
Sprint's own forums are full of unhappy customers.
I am beyond my 30 days to return the phone (but I am actually on my second Moment-the first one was buggy), and I used my free upgrade to get it which means I'm S.O.L for getting a new phone.
I really don't know what to do.
I'm basically stuck with a phone that's awesome sometimes, but sucks most of the time.
Why are we all just putting up with this?
 
I got the issue after the upgrade. Averages 2-3 times per week into airplane mode for no reason. To get it out I have to turn the phone off. Kind of defeats the purpose of a cellphone when its in airplane mode.
 
I used to work for Sprint, thankfully I've quit the call center business (hopefully forever), but I can say that the issue is a known issue and was not fixed with 2.1. A resolution for it is still being worked on. From what I recall, it'll be in a future MR.

Yes, the main way to solve it right now is restarting the phone.
 
HAVE ANSWER TO AIRPLANE MODE!!!

HEY!! I CALLED SAMSUNG AND THEY HAVE SENT A PAID RETURN SLIP FROM UPS AND THEY WILL FIX THE PHONE GUARANTEED......OR SO THEY SAY WE ALL BOUGHT THE GARBAGE (AKA THE MOMENT) MIGHT AT LEAST SEND IT IN FOR REPAIR.
