From Phone Scoop:

Sprint has confirmed to Phone Scoop via email that it will be waiving mail-in rebates for an unspecified length of time. Spokesperson Stephanie Vinge wrote,"Sprint has temporarily replaced mail-in rebates with instant savings in participating Sprint stores and on Sprint.com. The change [will begin on] March 27 and will continue for an unspecified time." By waiving the rebates, customers will pay less out-of-pocket at the cash register for new devices.

This is a good thing. I hate mail-in-rebates. Hopefully this will spread to other carriers.

On the business side of this , its not a good thing. Just that when you pay that extra 100 dollars they can hold it in a high yelding account and collect interest on that money uptill the last minute. Yes i would love to not have to send in the rebate ,but since I have them bill me and I don't get charged for like 2 months. The rebate is usally cleared and in my hands by the time I have to pay the bill.

I like it. As a consumer, not having to pay such a large amount of money up front is awesome. All mail in rebates should be extinguished.

Thank goodness. Now we can actually buy a phone at the Sprint store.
