Your thoughts on SquareTrade vs Google preferred care or the other carrier protection plans?

Well right now not much benefit to Google care except for damages since we are getting two years anyway. Longer phone support which too I think but I don't use that.
Square Trade might offer longer warranty period.

Pretty sure the Google standard warranty doesn't cover cracked screens though.

I like SquareTrade, but remember it does not protect against lost or stolen devices.

That's what I meant by Google Care warranty not much good except for damages. That includes cracked screens. Google doesn't cover lost or stolen either as far as I know.

yes, SquareTrade only covers damages not theft or loss. Mostly that's what I would be concerned with anyway. almost never need to cover malfunctions since that's covered under warranty

I get insurance for my phone's through my insurance carrier. They have plans for devices like these. Mine covers essentially everything that the factory warranty doesn't, damage, cracked screens, theft, loss, etc. What they don't cover are manufacturer defects or issues caused by software. Mine costs $36 a year and has I believe a $90-120 deductible. They don't issue replacement phones, they just cut you a check for the amount you insure it for. With Google extending the manufacturer warranty, this to me is a great option. My insurance company is a small, regional one, so I'd assume larger companies would have something similar.

Update Square Trade raised there policy requiring you to sign for 2 years at $129, more than I wanted to spend so I went with Worth Avenue group, total cost with processing for me was $73 for one year$50 deductible and includes theft didn't have that before super stoked with that one

I'm going to have to check with my insurance

Interesting ideas here. I've been miffed that Google didn't refund some money to those of us that bought Preferred Care at $129 (more exp than last year), half of which was supposed to be a 2nd year of hardware warranty. –Yes, I'm thrilled that they added it to the original warranty but I think we should be refunded or credited something.

I still have another week to decide if I'm keepig it so thanks for the info.
