Standard dock?

I was thinking of buying this, but I am a bit offended that it costs $45. Has anyone purchased this accessory yet?

I had a charging pod with my previous phone, a BlackBerry Bold 9700, and it only cost $9! And that charger didn't use a usb plug and was much more convenient.

Can the phone function as clock when charging in dock if I am using launcherpro?
