Start up Apps and Services

Hey there fellow Android users. I've had the Droid for a week or two now and I love it. The only issue I have, and this isn't with the Droid itself but the Android OS is the apps and services that start automatically when the phone is turned on. Is there any way to prevent specific apps and services from starting after the phone boots up kind of like with msconfig in Windows?

As soon as it gets rooted. There are apps (autostarts is one) or you can edit some init files. For now, we patiently wait.
