Start Up Services (from cold boot)

Does anyone know how to stop a service from running (ala going to MSCONFIG in windows and not having something startup on boot) off of a boot?

I know the google services, etc....kick in at startup even if I don't want to use it. Same with Dolphin HD Browser, Atorrent, and a host of other startup items.

I can run Astro and Kill all the services/processes, and then they just start up again - so any help in getting these not to start unless I ask for them would be appreciated.

Not sure that list is 100% correct but the answer is a no unless you uninstall the app. There is very likely no reason to kill any apps as the Android OS does a good job of managing memory. Most of the apps don't continue to run after you leave them.

In order to make certain the system is as clean as possible restart it once a day.

I believe u r misunderstanding whats really going on at boot. its not executing all those app to be run at boot it is caching those apps bc they are seen as app u are going to use sooner or later and is setting them up to be loaded up fast when u do use them. Its does not take nearly the same amount of memory as having them actually being fully loaded into memory for use.

And as the previous post pointed out Android loads what it sees necessary from what u have installed. Only way for u to control it is to uninstall the offending apps.

OK Thank you. I am not sure I want to uninstall Google across the board - but, if the offending app is writing itself into the startup sequence (like Music/Facebook/Dolphin Browser HD) - and even though it is just not taking up memory - it seems like my cold boot process is taking more time than it should because of how many of the apps/services are preloaded the more I load up the entire unit. I would like the option of being able to control what is loaded on startup.

So given that they want them to be 'ready' for me - is there anyway to say 'no thank you'?

And the second part of the question was - I can go kill those processes, and they restart right away - which I thought meant something is running in the background - however minuscule it is... I was hoping to control that.

I feel the same way but sadly no not yet but i think they were some how working that into ICS.
