Can somebody tell me what icon this is, the one to the left

I got a test msg icon in my notification bar and a number 1 on my msg icon and don't have any messages. If i clear the notification bar it just comes back. no idea how to get it to stay gone

Chill145, that icon is for 911 emergency GPS, it's always active. If you turn on any other GPS services, the icon will change to include signal bars off to the right of it. You can't turn it off.

Well that's annoying. I knew it had to do with GPS by the look of it. If i have gps off, does that being on use any data
