Status bar too dark!

[Android Central Question]

For some reason, my status bar (with the battery percentage and time) is white and legible from the lockscreen, but is almost black and unreadable from the homescreen.
I've tried changing to different themes to see if that would help, but it doesn't.

The actual icons themselves. I like to have a dark background so I don't blind myself at night

Well my icons are always white no matter what background i chose...

Make sure that 'transparent notification bar' is enabled in Nova settings - Look & feel.

Also in nova settings is a setting for the notification bar text to be either black or white. You have it set to black. Under look and feel, you can set or unset “ dark icons”. If you have a transparent notification bar, a black background and “ dark icons” you get what you see above. So either change dark icons to off or transparent notification bar off or both.
