Status bar transparency

Does anyone know of a way to darken the transparency of the status bar? I use BW Live wallpaper and during the day it is difficult to read the status bar because it is too light of a transparency. Appreciate the help!

With kit Kat google made it so it's always transparent and developers must use white icons. No more colors
