My rezound is still periodically bootlooping even after the fix of changing the radio from WCDMA preferred to CDMA auto. I don't live or work in an area with a 4g signal (about a few miles outside the Philly 4g areas) so I don't put it in 4g often at all. I use the widgit Switch It when I'm in a 4g area to kick it on. Every few days or so when changing the battery it goes into a bootloop. The only way I get it to stop is to pull the battery, pull the sim card, and then boot the phone without the battery door. Once it boots up, I check the Switch it widget and sure enough, the phone is back into WCDMA mode (I'm sure the reason for the bootloop

This is getting frustrating. I love this phone, but this is the crap that gives android a bad name. If I was a noob, I might take the phone back and just get an iphone. But I'm not, I like android better, but I want a phone that works out of the box. Yes I unlocked the bootloader, and rooted it, but it was doing this BEFORE I did that.

Anybody know of a permanent fix for this, short of checking the radio before I shut down everytime?

If you're outside of 4G more than you're inside it and don't use it, maybe remove your 4G SIM?

I don't think that the phone will work without the sim, even for voice or 3g.

Actually, it is theoretically possible, but would require cdma workshop and is not for the faint of heart.

Yeah, I don't think it works without the Sim card. Haven't tried it, and can't right now, but worth a shot. I appreciate the suggestion, but hopefully this is something that will get fixed when ICS drops. For now it only seems to happen when I am switching from the standard to the extended battery. I like to use the standard, but a few days a week I need the extra juice, so I will pop in the extended battery. I guess I can boot it up the cover off so it doesn't loop and then put the cover and case on AFTER I check the radio.

I guess I'm frustrated as a fan of android. I know if this was my wife, she would take it back and get an iphone, and that saddens me. I don't hate the iphone, but I know we have a superior product, and I don't want little things like this to ruin it's reputation. I can deal with the battery door issue, but others won't be as forgiving.

Ha that's something I never knew. I just tried to verify but yeah no signal at all without the SIM. I'm laughing at myself for not knowing that the phone couldn't get a signal without it.
