Still getting double sms notifications with Handcent (yes I turned off native sms)

I turned off the native sms notifications under messages-settings-received, yet I'm still getting both Handcent and the native message popups. I've tried battery pull, etc but still not working. Any ideas?

what types of messages are you getting dupes for? regular texts or alerts from verizon?

regular texts. I've even tried sending them to myself or using google voice to send them and I still get dupes. Really confused why this is happening.

I'm an idiot. I had forgotten that I was using the missed call app for sms as well. That's what was doing it. Stupid me.

when you go to compose a message make sure you check Handcent as the default
