Ok. So, I deleted the app earlier thinking I could get the mandatory update to install but no go. Then, I updated to the latest AC-Rom thinking that would bring it back. No go! I installed the update-vmm.apk in the ac-rom thread in the hack forum. Still no icon for voicemail. Any ideas on what else I can try to get the app back?

Ok! So, I went to another forum and found the Sprint_VVM.apk. Copied it to my phone, used adb install path/Sprint_VVM.apk to install it on my phone. Now, after doing that and restarting, the app was there and I just copied it to the desktop. Unfortunately, it's an old version of the apk. I have the new version on my phone so I'm going to try and update it over the top of what I got off of the other phone and see if that works. Wish me luck!

I tried flashing over the top of the app from the other forum to get rid of the mandatory update message. Didn't work. I tried using the adb install method on the actual apk file from the zip and got a failure message saying that it already exists. This is becoming a pain in the arse!!

I am sorry that I am not any help here, but it is little issues like this that keep me from rooting my Evo. If it can be messed up, I will do it.

For the rooted ROM, you need to put back the "Sprint updater" app in order to download this mandatory update. Otherwise, it will crap out on you.

The user is all set. The new one is named com.coremobility.app.vnotes-2.apk which you can understand the confusion as this is drastically different than the old name of SprintVVM.apk
