still pleased with X4

There have been a whole crop of new phones that have entered the market, but I am still happy with the X4. And at what seems to be it's standard price of $299, I would buy it again even today.

Moto has done a decent job keeping the OS updated (better than Samsung), the screen is very good, performance is fine, battery life is good-to-very good, and I love having a headphone jack. The camera quality in good light is awesome, and the second wide angle lens is something I use more than I expected. The finger print sensor is lighting fast and I like it's ability to act as a navigation tool (even though it doesn't always work). The design of the phone looks modern enough and the bezels are reasonably sized, even in 2018.

I don't like the lag launching the camera, but it is better now than it was when the phone was released. It did regress a bit when Oreo 8.1 landed, or at least it seems like it did. The front selfie camera wide angle is nice, but the quality is poor in anything but ideal lighting.

But overall, the X4 is a good phone excluding price, and a great phone considering the price even in Aug 2018.

I just bought this phone for $149. Soon after I bought it I saw that it is on sale at Best Buy for $89. Still a decent phone in my opinion.

I think this device is worth $299. I'm glad that I was able to get it for half that price. But if people are paying $1000 for an iPhone then this phone is worth $300. I came from the Note8 and I am pleasantly shocked as to how this smartphone compares in performance and features.

I like to be objective about these things even if it upsets people. Consumers take their smartphone choices very seriously, too seriously in fact. And they have a difficult time seeing things for what they really are. Comparing the Note8 to the Moto X4, there are some surprises. If you asked most smartphone owners who makes the best screens the consensus would be Samsung. The Note8 has a 1440p AMOLED screen. The Moto X4 has a 1080p IPS screen. But for some reason, the Moto X4 screen looks crisper and the colors are more vibrant. The fingerprint reader being in the front is more convenient than being in the back like the Note8. The basically stock Pie experience is smoother and more intuitive than Oreo on the Note8. The s-pen is nice. Have always loved using it. But if I'm being honest, typing notes, using the keyboard for text input, is more efficient, quicker, and a lot neater. It is rare that using the s-pen is more convenient than just thumb typing. Battery life on the Moto X4 is slightly better. The rear camera on the Note8 seems better but only slightly. The front facing camera on the Moto X4 is definitely better and it has a flash. Note8 has a larger screen which is nice. More RAM and more internal storage. But performance and storage hasn't been an issue for me so far. So when you compare prices, I bought this Moto X4 for $149 and the Note8 is going for $700+ more, then I have to question why would someone throw away that kind of money?

This smartphone is getting better and better to me. I am really enjoying it. Been noticing a lot of little features that are really helpful.

i love this phone has well i this got it new open box on swappa for $130 the phone still had it packging on it and every thing the only thing that was open was the box it self i got the 3GB ram verison of the phone and its android one

Bought my X4 after my 1st Gen Moto X finally quit - (kept it going for awhile with a battery replacement). Very happy with my Moto X4. Looking back, it would have been money better spent to upgrade, rather than replace the battery in an old phone. I did really like the original Moto X, and I'm glad I was able to follow up with the Moto X4. I use the OTG capability with moving/backing up/sending photos from my camera while on the road.

After using the X4 for 3 months now, i love this phone but a few negative things i want to point out.
1. Vibration motor is very weak, can't feel the phone vibrate in the pocket. And ringtone volume too.
2. Speaker isn't loud enough either.
3. Camera could be a bit better as well.
4. Lack of 4G on both sims at the same time. Moto has not provided this feature even in Pie update.

Overall I'm very happy with this for what I paid. I agree with the vibration motor. I'd love to be able to leave my phone on vibrate but I'd never feel it. My ringtone volume though is quite loud.
