I just tried it and it works! I thought I would be redirected to the VZW page to sign up for service. Anyone else try?

Same here unless I use my WIFI. I guess Froyo usb tether will still be handy if your wireless in your laptop takes a dump.

I guess after the official OTA has been out for a while I will call VZW and talk to them about it. I need a legal way to gain remote access while on the road. I'm tired of looking for open WiFi access.

Edit: I realized I turned WiFi off on my laptop, but not on my Droid. It now works as designed. :-(

Ok, I'm new to the Droid and currently I can connect my home computer to the web using PdaNet and my Droid plugged into the USB. Now, I've only done it once, just to test it out, but it worked and while it wasn't as fast as my cable connection, it did allow me to check emails, browse the web, etc without any problems. Almost every week or two Comcast drops my internet for a day or two at a time and when that happens I want to be able to use my Droid to connect.

Long story short will PdaNet still work once Froyo has been pushed on me? I haven't forced it, simply because I don't want to lose that feature. If there's a better way to do it, feel free to let me know that as well.

You should be fine with PDAnet. I need a "legal" way to connect so I'm looking forward to the USB tether feature with 2.2.

pdanet is legal, you just have to pay to use it (the full fledged version at least)
