Stock calendar extended functions not working

Greetings
The extended functions on the stock calculator (these appear when you rotate the phone) do not appear to work as they do on other calculators. Am I missing something?

Examples:
(A) Find the reciprocal (1/x) of 0.2 - should be 5. Type '0.2' into the calc, and press '1/x'. The screen doesn't display '5', but "0.2 x 1 ÷ "
[NOTE - even if you actually add the "0.2" to the end, the answer will always be 1...]

(B) Find the sin of 56 degrees. Type in '56' and press 'sin'.
Screen displays "56 x sin( "

(C) Same for cos, tan, log, all of them...

This is rubbish. No calculator in existence works this way.
What is going on?

Not sure why it acts this way. Are you using a third-party application with better support for those extended functions?

i'm not using an alternative calculator, nor should I have to. the stock app should work.
Having checked on other phones, this doesn't appear to be a problem in just Android 6, it happens in previous version as well.
