Stock Froyo 2.2...how do I root this??

Why wouldn't it work? I know the Pre is a completely different animal but you could return to stock the exact same way...

This method requires root, if you are on OTA official 2.2...yeah. Someday soon maybe this will work. Just not currently. RUU will not allow you to downgrade...well actually the phone will not allow the RUU to downgrade you.

You messed up my mojo here... lol

I wanted them to figure that out...

There is always the PC36IMG Way... you know how much fun that was...

My sprint guy is downloading the fix for the .3 update now. It will roll me back to the 1.47 version.

If I can get my hands on it, I'll pass it along. Easiest fix for anyone. A file that will downgrade you to the 1.47 would be great!

Yeah...I know...I knew what you were doing. But figured someone will just get upset because they didn't get their golden ladder. So I presented them with a silver one...with enough information for most to get!

and this is because of the updated hboot, correct?

You guys are Technically in unknown territory

Feel free to test out anything and return with answers...

I personally went thru Hell to get the correct Hboot applied...

so im floored whenever i see people want to lose root because of an OTA...

i would say that you're right about me being in an unknown territory. i come from the webOS land and i had to switch over my Pre giving me too many hardware issues (not related to the oc kernels though). last one, my lcd damaged, just like that so, i went for the evo.

in other words, as of today, i have a starter knowledge of Google Android and the EVO 4G at most. i'm digging those threads from here, xda devs, and everything else i can find to see and understand how everything works.

and yes, i do know that there's no way to root an EVO 4G (never rooted) that has been updated to the OTA Android 2.2 (*.6 build) as of now. i'm still watching closely to the threads to see how it develops. and no, i didn't knew that Android exploitability would be much like the iPhone OS (iOS) in terms of breaking jailbreakability with every update.

i still have much to learn, and will keep on it. you will see me quite often. :)

Its not always like that... Just Recently it seems...

Rule of thumb never do an OTA if Root... Counter Productive...

I highly doubt he is rolling you back to 1.47...

It would be more likely that hey have the newest .6 RUU out and in the hands of sprint stores. So running that RUU, with a newer Hboot, will just give you the updated .6...

I don't think they would be dumb enough to release a way to downgrade your system to allow a developer flaw...

i'll have that in mind. now i'll just have to wait until 2.2 ota is finally rooted. thanks for your help.

Like I've said before... Im Willing to help anyone... but im selective :p

i understand your point. at most, the only help anyone can give out now is to keep repeating that there's nothing to do on the stock 2.2 right now. lol.

Where is Tehman when you need him lol

Mr. Elitist,

I've been on the phone with a friend who is tech at sprint. He is an android guru...

I've never been rooted. On the .3 version. Is this whole roll back stuff crap? Or is there a way?

He can't seem to find any tool released by HTC or Sprint. Though I've read other's have had it done.

Please chime in. I'm not here to ask questions that waste your time. Just want to get a hold on this and get other informed of what to do...

haha

well a simple answer for this is....

If you Updated to OTA 2.2 there is no confirmed way to back track... If your root then you can attempt a RUU to Stock but i doubt it will work...

There is the complicated way where you can Place the ENG-PC36IMG.zip onto the Root of your SDCard Let the bootloader sort it out...

I didnt do the OTA 2.2 so i cant even tell you were to begin...

If your still on 2.1 PM me I'll Point you in the right Direction
