Stock gallery app stopped respecting hidden folders

As the title says, my stock gallery app just started showing albums and pics that were supposed to be ignored with the period in front of that folder's name. It was ok for a couple weeks after taking the JB update, then tonight everything started showing up. So not sure why the sudden change, but clearing app data, cache, and a reboot didn't do anything for me.

Any suggestions?
