Verizon Galaxy S3 running 4.1.1 and I am having a problem with the stock gallery. I am trying to keep the WhatsApp photo folder from showing up in the stock gallery. Because this is an app-created folder, I cant prefix the folder name with a period.
I have tried adding a .nomedia file to the folder in question, then clearing the cache and app data on both gallery and media storage. This works fine until a new photo is received. This causes the Whatsapp folder to show up in the gallery again but only shows that last photo, older photos are not shown.
I suspect that the .nomedia file is only used when the media is initially scanned but subsequent files are included by the gallery. My current workaround is to use QuicPic but apps like Facebook, or things like changing the wallpaper allow these Whatsapp photos to be shown.
Is there any way to permanently block the phone from scanning/looking at sdcard0/whatsApp/Media/whatsApp Images ?
