Anyone like the stock messaging app? I personally like the UI but it is missing so much functionality. I use textra instead

now i use hangouts... disabled stock message app

I use 8sms, it works like the messaging app from cyanogen.

I use hangouts now as well. Though there was nothing wrong with the stock messaging app, I just figured if hangouts has the SMS capabilities why not use it.

I would use hangouts but I don't like the emojis. I use Handcent for the emojis and the many other features.

Textra is the BALLS.

I use Verizon's Text App. Pretty good and it syncs with my tablet.

And it has pretty cool emojis also, plus it's pretty customizable.

I use hangouts as well. I have a lot of friends using hangouts so I just integrated my SMS into it. Had a few bugs but it seems to have worked itself out with updates.

Don't mind hangouts, but I don't like that the message doesn't work with active notifications.

Active notifications works fine.

If I use hangouts, and receive a message, the screen turns on, but when I press the unlock button it does not show a hangout icon or message preview.

Something is not right on your phone. My active notifications works, hangout icon and all.

Settings->Active notifications->Manage notification types. Is Hangouts checked?

That setting was not checked, I'm going to try it out now! Thanks!
One other question, any way to set it so the default picture is not Google+, but Facebook?
