Stock music player starts when bluetooth connects

Is it really that infuriating though?

Well not exactly infuriating, however it's extremely inconvenient.

Example, sometimes I'm in a hurry and don't want to put the phone in my car dock.
I start the car, bt connects and I get the lame over the river stock samsung jingle going on through the speakers; cute.
Now I gotta dig my phone out, close the stock app and load my main app (which happens to be spotify).

Now this doesn't always happen, I'd say like 50% of the time. When it works, and spotify loads where it last was it's beautiful.

Try this app: Bluetooth Connect & Play

Does anyone know how to prevent the device from starting the stock music player when the bluetooth connects in my car? I cannot find any setting anywhere. It did the same thing on my S3 so it obviously isn't just device, or even carrier specific, since I also switched from Sprint.
I searched all of the phone settings and the music player settings and can't find anything about starting automatically on connect. I must be missing something.

Try this so to STOP a player. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...luetooth.connect.and.stop.play&token=sUmB80cX

I have the Samsung s4. Here is how I fixed this.
Go to
1. Settings
2. My Device
3. Accessories
4. Earphones

Then uncheck the box for audio applications.

Hopefully this will help you out.

Wouldn't this disable "Earphones" for all Audio Applications???

I have the same exact issue. Everything I connect my Bluetooth headset, the default music player begins playing. It is startling and honestly, quite stupid. This happened with both, my Galaxy S5 and Note 4.

WTF?

Has anyone found a solution for this? It is MADDENING, as well as dangerous. I have tried Carl's app, which works as advertised, but here's what happens:
  1. I start the car
  2. Bluetooth automatically connects to my phone
  3. Carl's app launches iHeart Radio
  4. About one-half second of music plays
  5. The phone's (HTC One M7) stock musci player takes over and starts playing songs from my own music collection
  6. I have to take my phone out and manually switch applications (NOT what I want to be doing while driving)

It is not car specific, as I've done the exact same thing in both of my cars. It is definitely something baked into Android, which does not allow you to disable the stock Music app.

Turn on the desired streaming app before you enter the car so that stock music or device music wont start to play.

Doesn't work. Desired music player is already running, Google Music Player still interrupts it.

Personally, I've given up and gone back to XM. This fall, when I get a new car, Android Auto is a must-have feature.

This problem has been going on for 2+ years and no one has ever solved it ? I saw it was reported to google and they closed the issue but never fixed it. My samsung galaxy relay does this same stupid thing, it open a media player and starts paying random files (ringtones, notifications, songs) about 5 seconds after getting in the car or connecting to any bluetooth audio. My Open media player on headphone connect is unchecked. I even disabled my stock media player, and my phone just picked another app and start picking new random songs.

Yeah, im not sure how this isn't fixed or at least added an option in settings of media players and/or bluetooth. Its extremely annoying

What twright81 indicated worked great for me (Thanks!). The menus and actual settings were a little different on my Note 4 w/ lollipop but fixed the issue w/ my BT headset always starting to play music when it was turned on...

Please share you note4 lolipop steps. I have nothing on mine that resembles those.

For me, I would say it got to the point of being infuriating... To the point that the "over the river" samsung jingle nearly sent me "over the edge". I did come up with a very satisfying temporary fix for my sanity, after months of torture. I just opened the culprit app, selected the track AND DELETED IT! Sooo satisfying! I do have an audio book that starts playing, but it's a lot better than "over the river". Interestingly, I noticed that the only tracks in the Samsung music app library, are the ones that were in the dedicated 'Music' folder, which is where I placed this audio book a few weeks back. I have a feeling that if I put it in a different folder, the Samsung app would have nothing to play. About to set up that test and will let y'all know :)

Well, I moved the tracks from the Music folder using ES File Explorer, and the Music app still listed them in their new location. I use Spotify these days, so have no need for audio tracks to be stored locally, so I have deleted all remaining audio tracks from the device itself. I'm confident that this should solve the problem. Obviously this solution won't help those of you with MP3 ringtones stored locally, but hopefully helps those in the same position as me.

I havent found a way to fix the same issue im having without installing a 3rd party app or disabling the apps that are starting.

I did fix mine though. I only use pandora and hardly ever use google play music app. So I went into setting, apps, selected the two music apps and the sound recorder that was starting when I connect to my truck radio via bluetooth, and disabled them. It does not uninstall but, it does delete you app setting and saves, not your music or app. Now when I connect it does nothing unless I start the app.

What is really causing this is, when you connect to a bluetooth media device, ie. Car stereo, headphones, speaker, home theator, that device has a setting programmed to automatically send the play command to your phone. Some devices you can disable it, some you cannot. Basically when you connect the audio device it is automatically pressing the play button for you. If you already have a music app open then it is suppose to just resume or play that app. Sometimes it glitches and does it for others even if its already open.
The issue is when you have no music apps open, you connect to your bluetooth device, it sends the play command, so your phone is opening any, all, or one music app that accepts the play command.

It sucks but maybe this will help someone else figure out a workaround with disabling or installing apps.
