Stocks app syncing

I have recently started using the 'Stocks' app, and set up four companies in my portfolio. My question is what is the point of turning sync on for Stocks? I have set it to refresh upon opening the app so, what is the point in syncing? I don't get it as it appears to make no difference.

I prefer to only sync the essentials so I can save battery life.

if you have set it to refresh upon opening the app there is no point in syncing. I did the same with Tasks app

Setting it to sync will keep the widget up to date! If you don't use the widget you don't need it to sync!
