Stop Amazon app from using battery?

How do I get the Amazon app to stop depleting my battery?

I have tried the usual means through Application manager and Battery Usage manager, I can stop it, but its only temporary at best. It just starts right back up again when I am not looking.

It is using roughly 10-13% of my battery... even though I am not even using the app.

I don't want to uninstall it. I am an Amazon prime customer and most definitely do use the app from time to time.

... and now for the past 2-3 hours or so, its totally stopped... Weird???

I took a brief look in my own Amazon app earlier to see whether I could find anything that would help with your original post, but I couldn't find any app settings. I was thinking that location reporting or similar might come into it somehow, but that would probably show as Google Play Services battery usage.
Something stuck on updating, perhaps.
Clearing Cache, Clearing Data, Force Stopping and Uninstalling might fix it if the problem recurs. Then Reinstall and sign in to your Amazon account.

OK thanks... strangely it hasn't done it since I posted this. I'll keep an eye on it.
