I keep getting this helper page overlay covering the whole screen explaining how to get out of full screen randomly when some app goes full screen. It was helpful a couple of times but now I just don't want to see it anymore.

Anyone know how to turn it off?

I've never seen what you're describing, but I'd like to so that I can at least recognize it if it is comes up. Can you include a screenshot?
Also, how about a link to one of the apps that causes this behavior? (You could use something like Share Apps http://market.android.com/details?id=com.theronrogers.shareapps to generate that information.)

Looks like this below. Anything that goes full screen causes it like;
chrome Google image search
Quickpic
Moon+ reader
Monument Valley
Youtube
Netflix
Etc.

Really any app that hides the on screen buttons and notification bar.

After it's shown in one app you don't see it again for a while in the same app. But you could see immediately again in another app.

I found the right search phrase to dig up a bunch of other people and developers that are annoyed by this too. Saw some developers removing immerssive mode because of this message.

Nothing can be done about it but there is an xposed module to get rid of it.

Apparently Google thinks that annoying their users is better than a bunch of clueless people wondering where the on screen buttons went.

A simple checkbox "I get it, never show this again" would make a lot of people happy and more developers likely to use the mode.

Strange - I don't see anything like that when using YouTube (the only app in your list that I happened to have). I'll try a couple more and see what happens.

Ah, okay - I did see what you describe with Google Play Books.
Strange, YouTube doesn't even come up in full screen, much less immersive mode, until I drag the arrows.
