Stop getting carrier updates

I bought a Galaxy S7 from T-mobile. I don't want to keep getting updates for the software from T-mobile but only the manufacturer or Android. Will unlocking my phone from T-mobile allow me to do this?

Hi there

You can use a program called, Package Disabler, in the play store. Find your process relating to the TMO Software Update, and disable it. Simple as that.

unlocking the phone from T-Mobile (using the app thing) will allow you to use a SIM card from another carrier, but it won't stop T-Mo from trying to send updates.

T-Mobile (USA) updates for the S7 model, G930T, are released by Samsung. This is the only firmware that the model is able to receive, unlike the Global S7's.
