I'm a little confused. If I'm listen to music via the music app. How do I 'close' it when I'm finished?

I can see how to pause a song. But it always seems as if the player is waiting for me to hit pause again...

Thanks

just pause mate. no need to exit apps on android ;)

global s3, UK. Ask me anything and ill reply even if its just an intelligent (or stupid) guess ;)

Someone on another forum reminded me to check the 'menu'...

Honestly, and to think I work in I.T.

*walks away ashamed*

lol its android. i could be wrong but as far as i know, the position of the track/album you were listening to is cached and the music player stops using power, same with a game, browser, etc.
feel free to correct me anyone :)

I work in IT too and wouldn't be ashamed. That's just part of the inconsistencies associated with android apps. Some have an Exit menu item, some have a Quit, Waze has a Switch Off, most have nothing. Coming from the Blackberry side of things I always think I have to kill every app I'm not using. It's a learning curve to realize that droids manage those programs pretty well in the background without my OCD having to intervene. I still go into Task Manager and take pleasure in flicking idle apps off the screen then clearing RAM. It may not help things run better, but I feel better. So there.

lol i have a ram cleaner widget but ive actualy found that my phone scores higher on the Quadrant app when i dont bother to clear ram, cache or anything and im on the 1gb international version so usualy only have like under 100mb free ram :)

Makes me wonder just how many of these RAM protectors and Battery Heros actually do anything besides make you feel good. Maybe the more you pay for it the better you"ll feel.

yeah im really wary of those things, task killers havent been needed since like android 2.2 and its easy enough to save power manualy :)

Open 'Applications' from Home Screen; then open 'Settings'; then 'Applications'; then 'Running Services'. Your music app should be listed, press 'Stop' button and ignore the generic warning. Ya, it's BS to have to go to all this trouble, but it'll get your music app to STFU...

This has to do with the thread on stopping...really STOPPING, not just pausing...music playback on an Android device. In my case it's a basic LG VS660 Android 2.2 phone.

My issue is that in my new Bluetooth-equipped vehicle is all too happy to play from BT media when it pairs with the phone, even if I'm listening to FM. I'm used to the idea that when I get in a car and turn on the music playback, I'll be hearing whatever I was hearing when I last shut the vehicle off. But as soon as I get in and my phone is turned on (locked even), the damn radio says "Hey! Let's listen to the Bluetooth device instead!!"

I find no setting on the radio where I can override this insane need to play "Media" rather than "FM" whenever media is available. (It does the same thing if there happens to be an SD card in the front panel slot. I don't know how it reacts to CDs. I haven't put any in it yet.)

The simple obvious cure is to be able to stop the music player app on the phone when I don't want to play music and start the app when I do. If the built-in Android 2.2 app won't work that way, is there another app that will? And if there is such an app, can I keep the built-in music player app from intruding? (I'm pretty sure the phone won't let me expunge it unless I want to get into the rooting business.)

Thanks for inviting "anything" replies.

bfotk,
Sorry, more questions than answers:
1. Is there a reason that you don't just turn Bluetooth off on the phone when you get in the car?
2. Is the music app on the phone already running (and playing music) when you get in the car, or does it start on its own?
3. Are there times when you actually do want to stream music from the phone to the car? If not, you could change the profile in the car to exclude media.

I just found a good reason to have a "stop" button... I had a track on my Gear S3 which was undeletable. Turned out that it was the track which was currently paused. So I played it to the end, it came to a stop, and then I could delete the track.
I've also noticed that I can use the slider to "fast forward" the track, so that's a bit better.

Whilst I'm here dishing out hints, can anyone tell me if the S3 can play music directly from my host Edge7 phone (specifically, from the SD card)? It looks like it ought to, but I've never had any success.

I have about 20gb of music tracks on the phone's SD card, so I can't download it all, and I don't have the patience to keep shuffling tracks onto and off the S3!
