Stop text links from opening in split screen

Aside from rotating the phone, which is not a solution, does anyone know how to prevent the Pixel fold from opening up a texted link (when clicked on) as a text/browser split screen scenario?

Interesting. I guess I never noticed that outcome.

But that is what just happened in my testing. YUP - split screen.

Unless you close the Fold and then it opens directly in the one screen. I'm not sure if there's a way to tell it to close "one side" and open the other full screen.
