Question stopped notifying me of new text messages

Suddenly my Galaxy Note (android) stopped notifying me of new text messages. How do I get that back?

Which Galaxy Note phone? You've already double-checked the notification settings in Settings>Apps, and then selecting the messaging app, correct?

Do you have a smartwatch connected? If so, there may be a setting that can mute the phone when connected to a watch.

If it's a newer Note do you use Samsung messages or goggle?
This on the lock screen?
Can try clearing data then force stop the message app possibly glitching
