Storage problem

I have inherited my son's Nokia Plus1, running Android Go, to replace my Samsung, also runnign Android Go, but with only 4.5GB of 8GB used.
It is telling me that it is about to run out of storage. It has 8GB of internal storage plus 32GB of extended storage, via a SD card, setup as internal storage.
I have tried to clear stuff out, like audio, which lists as using 1.4GB, but when I follow the link to the audio storage there is nothing there. There are also several apps that I'm not interested in, but I can only disable them, not uninstall.
I have only downloaded one app, multiple notifications.
So: how do I clean out stuff I don't want, to recover storage?
How do I link the SD card to the system so it actually is used, despite the system telling me it has about 40GB of storage?

Another issue is downloading music, from my computer. Half the stuff I downloaded has created the folders, but no content. Even trying to download individual songs to the blank folders doesn't work. All music is in MP3 format.

Thanks

Hi, Welcome!

8gb storage is definitely not enough for today standards and can get filled pretty quickly. The SD card I recommend you out back as portable storage as it will cause issues , its not as fast as Internal storage and when it gets corrupt it will cause freezes , shut downs , glitches. Keep it as portable storage for only picture, video, documents and for the internal storage you'll have to make do with what you have and minimize apps you need it's only 8gb storage .

I think I've solved the problem by resetting the phone to factory specs, and reloading my contacts. Not much else on there, yet.
