The Google app worked except for it says voicemail is being transcribed by youmail. I cannot find the VM that was left. Do you have to download youmail too to get your VMs?

You should be able to use your carrier's VM app.
YouMail, Google Voice, etcetera are other options.
I don't know how to use YouMail.
