Strange behaviour google home app

I do have a gooogle nest hub/ phone i use has android 5.

I go to the google home app and press the "+" sign in the upper left corner to add new device/then select "Set up device"

Then i can choose (Set up) "New device" or "Works with google".

Normally if I choose "Work with google" I get a list to choose. Now when I do that it jumps to the page to load the list (circle turning) but then does not show the list but jumps back to the setup screen. ???

What to do?

If I delete the google home app and reinstall with my account will al my settings be restored or do I have to begin from scratch?

Hi there. I am not sure that Google Home app is totally compatible with Android 5. It is 6 years old and many apps need at least Android 6 to work properly. This could be your issue.

Try Nest. I've been using it for months. (The only thing I don't like is the inability to keep both summer and winter schedules, but it takes about a minute to set up a schedule.)
