Stuck at Splash Screen. Help?

Hi, I traded my HTC EVO 4G for a "new" one since my last one was damaged. Sprint gave me a refurbished one. An HTC EVO 4G that does not work. When I got home my phone got stuck at the splash screen and I can only HBoot it (VOL - & POWER BUTTON).
I get this message when I enter hboot;

Loading...[PC36DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PC36DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PC36IMG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PC36.IMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!

I want to fix this?
Is it rooted?
What can I do?
BTW I'm new at hacking/rooting phones so I don't know many terms. :-[
And,.. I cant enter usb mode since i can't get pass the splash screen,..

based off your info your evo is stock. If its not getting past the splash screen at all bring it back into sprint and let them know about it. You will get another one and since your at it try and get a discount off your bill since they messed up. This tends to happens sometimes, i once had a crackberry replacement sent to me which had a mind of its own. It would turn the radio on and off when ever it felt like it.

Okay so the guy at sprint said that it was tampered with... I got a new HTC though ^-^
Unfortunately i did not get that discount.. Thanks btw
