stuck help please

Hi all,
I thought things were going well on my first rom, backside for optimus v. When I tried to load it, the phone has been stuck at the boot screen with the android logo and green sparks circling around it. How do get out of this? No buttons seem to work. Thanks in advance!

Did you give it time to boot? First boot takes awhile.

whew got it. I didn't know it was ok to remove the battery at that point. Now I have to figure out how to get my apps back. Thanks
