Stuck in boot loop

Hello,

This weekend i have been using my (brand new since recently replaced) One X for hiking tracking, and after several hours when I took the phone out of my pocket it seemed to be stuck in a bootloop. The phone constantly tries to turn itself on, even when not pressing the power-on button. After 1-2 seconds it fails to boot since not enough power is present. This also occurs when I plug in a charger.

I have tried the power on + volume down, and do receive the boot menu, but it says 'not enough power for factory reset'. However, I am not able to charge the battery enough, since the device keeps rebooting (and hence not charging I presume, since the charging light goes on and off all the time). Does anyone know how to get out of this pickle? Much appreciated!

Welcome to Android Central! The battery could be failing, but this is hard to test since it isn't removable. You might have to bring it to a repair shop.

Ok thanks, but I do all my repairs myself

Right, but I was wondering if a failing battery might be causing the bootloop.
