stuck in safe mode

My friends Huawei ascend is somehow stuck in safe mode and we can't figure out how or why it happened...my guess would be one of the kids were messing around with it...well I googled and searched like crazy on how to get out of it....there a bunch of people with the same issue but no answers...if someone could help out, we would be greatful!
