I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone (SM-G900F), android 4.4.2. and i'm limited to 2g service only even if i switch to 3g/WCDMA/Auto.
I recently read a post and it said this variant of Galaxy S5 is limited to 2g only but i want to know if i can work around it to assess 3g service also?

Who is your carrier? It's entirely possible that your phone doesn't have the bands needed to run 3G/4G on your current network. If you can, find a friend/colleague that's on a different carrier and see what speeds you get.

My carrier is in Ghana (vodafone).
When I insert the sim into another phone with 3g capabilities, i get the 3g service but not for my Samsung.
If the phone does not have the required bands to assess the 3g, is there any work around?

Because a former colleague also had the same problem with his Galaxy S3 but he took it for repairs and it was connected to pc, some softwares were run and the 3g service came.
